Larry Lawson,
Founder and CEO

Larry Lawson has been a leading and successful entrepreneur in the medical device industry for over 50 years.

Larry founded HeartcoR Solutions in 2015, following the merger and sale of eCardio/Preventice Solutions to Sequoia Capital, Merck, and Boston Scientific Corporation.   Prior to HeartcoR, Larry grew eCardio/Preventice into one of the largest patient monitoring companies in the United States. Larry is also the Founder and Chairman of Proxima Clinical Research, M1 Med Tech, and LaWaLa Capital based in Houston, TX.  Larry currently serves on the boards of CorMedica, Artella, and the TMC Venture Fund, and previously served on the Board of Goose Capital, Saranas, Velentium, Decisio Health, and many other companies.  Larry received an Honorary Doctorate from Lamar University, and is the 2018 recipient of the HORATIO ALGER AWARD.

John Icardi,
President & COO


John Icardi brings almost 40 years of experience in field sales and executive leadership to HeartcoR Solutions.

He has previously served as VP of Marketing for Edward Weck & Company, and in 2000 created medical device and business consulting company SBW Inc. Recently, John launched medical device startup consulting company Egress Consultants. John was a founding team member for three medical device start-ups and previously represented two physician-specialty organizations. In the medical device market, John has successfully raised debt and equity capital, participated in medical device turnaround teams, built and operated direct and distributor sales forces and marketing teams, and led multiple strategic planning projects.

Dennis Bergau,
VP of Clinical Operations

Dennis Bergau joined HeartcoR Solutions in April 2022 and brings over three decades of experience in life sciences, information technology, and business consulting with affiliations in academic medicine, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.

Prior to joining HeartcoR, Dennis served as a representative of the Cardiovascular Interdisciplinary Scientific Advisory Group at a large pharmaceutical company. Dennis regularly works across pre-clinical and clinical research settings, including translational medicine, medical and scientific affairs, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, information technology, quality assurance, and non-scientific business strategy functional areas. Dennis holds a Master of Science in Physiology and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering, with an emphasis in Bioinformatics. 

Lakeita Renda,
Director of Technology

Lakeita Renda has more than 23 years’ information technology experience supporting a range of business types in environments ranging from small companies to organizations with more than 10,000 employees.

Most recently, she served as director of infrastructure services for Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Lakeita has also served as adjunct professor of technology/cybersecurity at ITT Technical Institute. Over the course of her career, Lakeita has developed a reputation for providing outstanding customer service, sound strategic leadership, and excellent project management.

Forough Fariborzi,
Sr. Director of Regulatory
and Compliance

Forough Fariborzi is a results-driven quality management systems expert with more than 25 years’ experience in regulated industries.

She joined HeartcoR in 2021 as senior director of quality and compliance, bringing with her extensive technical knowledge and experience implementing quality management systems. Prior to her current position, Forough worked with medical device and other companies as the principle QMS consultant. She earned a master’s degree in material engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.

Paul Piechota,
Director of Inventory
and Shipping

Paul Piechota brings more than a decade of inventory management and shipping experience to his role as director of inventory and shipping.

Paul works across a variety of teams to manage inventory and deliver results. He is a firm believer in HeartcoR’s mission of providing best-in-class service to support pharmaceutical and medical device safety studies and works tirelessly to provide clients with the products and services they need to succeed.

Xenia Kovacs,
Associate Director of Clinical Project Management

Xenia joins HeartcoR as Associate Director of Clinical Project Management, responsible for day-to-day clinical study operations.

She holds a BSc/BA degree in Science from Nagy Lajos College in Pecs, Hungary and completed legal training at the University of Pecs School of Law. Xenia held the position of Scientific Clinical Officer at Searle/Monsanto/Pharmacia/Pfizer from 1989 to 2002. From 2002 to 2016 Xenia was Sr. Clinical Manager at Abbott/Abbvie, and she served as Sr. Scientific Clinical Manager at Abbott Molecular from 2016 to 2018. She has co-authored several scientific articles in addition to her extensive experience managing clinical projects.

Susan Robbins,
Director of Training

Susan Robbins has over 25 years of experience helping organizations achieve their business goals through employee learning and development.

Her background includes a variety of industries, including healthcare, financial services, post-secondary education, and not-for-profit. Most recently, Susan built the training practice at e3 Diagnostics, an industry leader in hearing healthcare. She’s also presented at Chicago-area learning conferences. Susan’s natural sense of curiosity, innovative spirit, and interest in others’ success benefits her organization, business partners, and colleagues.

Michelle Moon,
Controller

Michelle Moon brings more than two decades of sales, reporting, analytics, and data management experience to her role at HeartcoR Solutions.

She developed a reputation over those years for using restructuring and automation to drive major improvements in quality, productivity, and cost control. At HeartcoR, Michelle is responsible for accounting functions, reporting, analytics, and asset management.

Michelle joins HeartcoR as Director of ECG Analysis and Quality Control following a career of progressing responsibility in the cardiac diagnostics and cardiac safety industries,

most recently managing testing operations for Helios Diagnostics. She previously served as Director of Holter Operations at Mednet Technologies, and between 2015 and 2022 held director-level positions with full operational responsibilities for 45 office and remote staff. Michelle holds an active Cardiovascular Credentialing International certification and was educated at Medical University of South Carolina and Thomas Nelson Community College in Virginia.
