Founder and CEO

Larry Lawson has been a leading and successful entrepreneur in the medical device industry. Larry founded HeartcoR Solutions in 2015, following the merger and sale of eCardio/Preventice Solutions to Sequoia Capital, Merck, and Boston Scientific Corporation. Prior to HeartcoR, Larry grew eCardio/Preventice into one of the largest patient monitoring companies in the United States. Larry is also the Founder and Chairman of Proxima Clinical Research, M1 Med Tech, and LaWaLa Capital based in Houston, TX. Larry currently serves on the boards of CorMedica, Artella, and the TMC Venture Fund, and previously served on the Board of Goose Capital, Saranas, Velentium, Decisio Health, and many other companies. Larry received an Honorary Doctorate from Lamar University, and is the 2018 recipient of the HORATIO ALGER AWARD.

Tony Otten

CFO

Tony Otten is a seasoned CEO and CFO with experience across a range of industries. In addition to his responsibilities at HeartcoR, he currently serves as board chair for Orion Energy Systems. Tony earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a minor in economics. He has done graduate work at the London School of Economics and has a Master’s in public policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He lives in Washington, DC, with his wife and daughter. He is an avid fly fisherman and squash player.

Scott Nivens

Scott Nivens

Vice President, Business Development and Client Engagement

Scott Nivens has more than 30 years experience in the life sciences industry. During this time, he has developed an in-depth understanding of the clinical trial process that he leverages to provide strategic and tactical solutions for HeartcoR Solutions’ partners. Scott joined HeartcoR in May of 2021 and is responsible for achieving global sales objectives, maintaining sales growth, and sustaining client relationships in the biopharmaceutical and medical device markets. He graduated with distinction from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in zoology and animal biology and earned a master’s degree in microbiology and immunology from the same school. He has also completed the executive management program from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Michelle Moon

Controller, HR

Michelle Moon brings more than two decades of sales, reporting, analytics, and data management experience to her role at HeartcoR Solutions. She developed a reputation over those years for using restructuring and automation to drive major improvements in quality, productivity, and cost control. At HeartcoR, Michelle is responsible for accounting functions, reporting, analytics, and asset management.

Forough Fariborzi

Senior Director Quality and Compliance

Forough Fariborzi is a results-driven quality management systems expert with more than 25 years experience in regulated industries. She joined HeartcoR in 2021 as senior director of quality and compliance, bringing with her extensive technical knowledge and experience implementing quality management systems. Prior to her current position, Forough worked with medical device and other companies as the principle QMS consultant. She earned a master’s degree in material engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.

Paul Piechota

Director of Inventory

Paul Piechota brings more than a decade of inventory management and shipping experience to his role as director of inventory and shipping. Paul works across a variety of teams to manage inventory and deliver results. He is a firm believer in HeartcoR’s mission of providing best-in-class service to support pharmaceutical and medical device safety studies and works tirelessly to provide clients with the products and services they need to succeed.

Henry Flores

Henry Flores

Director of Device and Application Portfolio

As director of device and application portfolio, Henry Flores is the primary subject matter expert on HeartcoR’s portfolio of devices and their assigned applications and platforms. He researches, sources, and tests new and emerging technologies in ECG monitoring for clinical trials with the goal of providing customers with accurate, timely responses to questions and ensuring HeartcoR remains on the leading edge of ECG core lab technology. Henry joined HeartcoR in 2017.

Cesar Patino

Cesar Patino

Director of Project Management

Cesar Patino joined HeartcoR Solutions in 2019 and quickly advanced to his current position as director of project management. Cesar directs project management staff with the goal of promoting process and workflow consistency. He is also developing the company’s mentor program to provide career mobility for HeartcoR team members. A former fire paramedic, Cesar holds Bachelor of Science degrees in biology and computer science. In his spare time, he works with Franciscan Outreach and other organizations in support of unhoused individuals.
